Amsterdam
I was born a thousand million miles away
in the forest they call Amsterdam.
I'm a direct relation of the kings and queens
though they won't say that I am.
But if they ever find me, they will know. (x4)
That
I didn't tell them anything.
They asked me to but I pretended
I was sick or blind or deaf,
That I had nothing in my head.
That I was just a normal man,
Who floats in space because he can.
Who doesn't know just where he's from
But knows these questions are all wrong.
But (ooh) they were wrong (x3).
We're not alone.
I didn't tell them anything (x8)
I'm sitting in the room with the light in my face.
I'm sitting in the room with the alien race.
I'm sitting up here a thousand million miles away.
I'm sitting in the room with the light in my face.
I'm sitting in the room with the alien race.
I'm sitting up here a thousand million miles away.
I'm sitting up here a thousand million miles away. (x4)
The chords on the guitar are not too hard but I'm not sure what they're all called.
When I do an "A", it's an E shape barred on 5th fret.
Here're the chords in order:
(1) "A" minor shape but barred on 4th fret (i.e. 446654), to start tune.
(2) E (on the word "miles").
(3) A (on the word forest)
(4) "E" shape barred on 4th (466544) on the "dam" of Amsterdam.
Rpt 1,2,3,4 4 times until...
(5) Haven't a clue what it's called but it's (9 11 11 9 9 9) on the word "didn't".
(6) A on word "asked".
Rpt 5,6 until...
(7) "A" minor shape barred on 9th fret on word "I" of "I was just a normal man".
(8) A on "floats"
Rpt 7,8.
(9) "E" shape barred on 7th fret on "ooh".
(10) A on "wrong"
Rpt 9 and 10 a few times ending on (9) on word "alone".
Then back round 5,6,5,6,7,8,7,8.
We're in the home striat now. Should that be home striaght? Anyway...
(11) Same as (1) on word "sitting".
(12) "E" shape barred on 2nd fret on next "sitting" word.
(13) A on the next "sitting".
(14) Same as (4) for "away".
Rpt 11,12,13,14 twice then...
Rpt 13,14 three times for the 3 of the last four lines.
Then it's 13 for last "sitting" and 9 for "way" of last "away".
Hold that note for a bit then end on the start chord. Hooray.
Been a While Since I Went Away
[E6] Today I learnt just how to
[E6] do,
[Am9] what everybody else can
[E6] do,
[Am9] what everyone already
[E6] knew,
[Am9] What everybody else can...
[E3] That's all anyone
[Am2] ever ever ever can
[E5] do.
Chorus
[E10] Been a while since I went away,
[E3] Been a while since I went away,
[E10] Been a while since I went away, but I've been
[E5] saving up for
[E10]you.
[E3, E10,E3]
[E6] ooh
[E5] ooh ooh ooh.
Verse Two
[Am9] Island life has made us
[E6] bold.
[Am9] Still our love runs hot and
[E6] cold,
[Am9] still our love runs hot and...
[E3] that's all anyone
[Am2] ever, ever, ever can
[E5] do.
Repeat Chorus
Here on my Own
Verse 1:
They said I would never remember,
They said I would never remember,
That street back in December,
I'm falling, falling, falling, falling.
Now he's gone he will always remain,
Now he's gone he will always remain,
Now he's gone he will always remain,
It's the future, future, future, future.
Chorus:
I'm here on my own. ( x 4)
Verse 2:
Have you seen such a mixed up mind,
Have you seen such a mixed up mind,
Have you seen such a mixed up mind,
And the candles burning, burning, burning.
Some would cry as they sang along,
Some would cry as they sang along,
Some would cry as they sang along,
It's the future, future, future, future.
Chorus:
I'm here on my own. ( x 4 )

Come In
Verse 1
It's always the way, in the words of the bard,
There are people everywhere that I go.
It's always the time when I'm chasing the tide,
When I'm a visitor and not in my home.
I always explain but you don't understand,
that you've got to let me finish my run
It's always the same in a game of demand,
that the money's made by letting it run, run, run...
Chorus
Come in, I don't believe in you x4
Verse 2
The rep for the man said to hold out my hand
I said, I only hold my hand out for you.
It's always the same here on every day,
There is nothing for the people to do, do...
Repeat Chorus
Middle 8
It's always the same, in the words of the bard
There is danger everywhere that I go.
Oh but you know you've got it put away,
Oh yes you do cos I know you do.
Repeat chorus

See You Later
They told me it couldn’t be done
Just to recognise a foe without hurting anyone
They said I’d just have to learn how to cope
I said I can do the time, a little time on the road
(And) Turning away I called out, I called
See you later
La la-la-laa, la-la-laa, la-laa
See you later
They told me I couldn’t go wrong
I can recognise a friend took a little time to make it all right yeah
Don’t believe all that I see
If you come across a joker dressed like a king
You gotta let him know, you gotta let him know now
Turning away I called out, I called
See you later
La la-la-laa, la-la-laa, la-laa
See you later
Whistle
Don’t you follow, never saw a man who was catching fire
Wasn’t catching fire for a very good reason.
Don’t you follow, never saw a man who was catching fire
Wasn’t catching fire for a very good reason.
Turning away I called out, I called
See you later
La la-la-laa, la-la-laa, la-la
See you later,
See you later, see you lay---ay---tor
